This role plays a vital part in our cryopreservation and QAQC laboratory operations, helping deliver breakthrough genetics to producers around the world.

Key Responsibilities
This role includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:
- Specimen Handling: Prepare, manage, and analyze boar semen using strict protocols
- Cryopreservation: Support freezing and thawing processes for QC, research, and exportation
- QAQC: Analyze and report on semen and semen dose quality from multiple semen sources
- Laboratory Support: Assist with setup, media preparation, equipment maintenance, and inventory
- Semen Analysis: Perform motility, morphology, and concentration assessments
- Documentation: Maintain accurate data logs, lab records, and procedural documentation
- Cleanliness: Follow all maintenance and cleaning protocols to ensure a sterile lab environment
- Supply Tracking: Receive and organize samples and lab materials efficiently
- Collaboration: Work closely with researchers, specialists, and lab technicians; attend lab meetings

- Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to stay organized and prioritize work in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information
- Flexibility with work schedules and locations across the Madison area
- Strong sense of responsibility and reliability—on time and prepared each day
- Comfortable working independently or as part of a high-performing team
- Willingness to work in a cold room (5°C) when required
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field or Associate degree in Laboratory Technology
- High school diploma with proven lab experience will also be considered
- Familiarity with lab techniques (pipetting, aseptic technique, microscopy)
- Previous experience with sperm handling or analysis is an asset
- Understanding of biosecurity procedures (swine industry knowledge is a bonus)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to support lab compliance and export accreditation standards
